The main feature of l’Atelier de Genval is diversity. Our approach, based notably on the principle of not repeating a pattern, is possible thanks to a wide variety of talents. Nevertheless, we believe also firmly in the “style of Genval”, often described as lyrical although it is very difficult to define because of the perpetual game of corrections made by the community. Even though a large creative autonomy is left to each project leader, he works in a constant duality by sacrificing some of his individuality to a kind of collective thinking, the spokesman of the idea is acting as balance factor. The adaptation of the program on the site, whether urban or rural, banal or remarkable, with all the required civic and political engagement, is the basis of the architectural approach, which makes each project unique. Finally, l’Atelier de Genval is recognized both for its seriousness and professionalism and for its culture of a certain art of life, again a necessary duality. |
